Our History
The Community
Built in the 1960s, Lynwood Village is a neighbourhood in Bells Corners, on the west side of Ottawa. It is bordered by National Capital Commission (NCC) greenspace on the north and south sides, Moodie Rd. and Highway 416. It includes the Lynwood Village Community Building and the Lynwood Park Tennis Club at 7 Sycamore Dr. and the City of Ottawa Entrance Pool at 2 Eaton St.
The Organization
The Lynwood Village Community Association (LVCA) is a dedicated, not-for-profit organization led by a group of volunteer residents striving to create a positive impact in our community. As with most Community Associations in Ottawa, the LVCA operates as an unincorporated association. More information about unincorporated associations in Ontario can be found here.
The LVCA aims to offer affordable and accessible recreational programs for all ages and encourages community spirit through special events and activities. It seeks input from residents, businesses and property owners regarding the recreational interests of the community, advocates for the community as it engages with local government, and collaborates with other community groups to promote, organize and support local events and activities.
The LVCA currently supports community activities such as weekly children’s programming, various adult fitness and social groups and local community groups such as the Girl Guides and Bells Corners Community Yoga. By partnering with these groups, the LVCA strives to ensure a variety of services are offered contributing to the well-being and sense of community amongst local residents.
In addition, the LVCA organizes and manages the upkeep of the Lynwood Park ice rink, including scheduling supervised ice time. This allows residents access to facilities such as bathrooms and change rooms in the Lynwood building. If you are interesting in helping us maintain the rink or provide supervision hours please reach out to us at lvcarink@gmail.com
The LVCA also hosts special events such as a Summer and Winter Fun Day and supports other Lynwood Park activities such as Shakespeare in the Park and a City of Ottawa Bike Rodeo.
The LVCA coordinates and administers the booking of the Lynwood community building located at 7 Sycamore Drive and works with City of Ottawa Nepean Community Programs to increase use of the building and sports fields for city run courses and camps.
The LVCA has been a member of the Federation of Citizen’s Association of Ottawa since December 2020.
